Being an exchange student

"To me, being an exchange student is like becoming a hobbit. Leaving your home for the large, mysterious world. Realizing just how small you are, but knowing you can make a difference. Everything around you has a touch of magic in it. Your life will be changed forever and your eyes will be opened. You can go home like Bilbo, or find a new home like Frodo. But this time will never leave you; the unbreakable bonds between friends you’ve made and the new homes and families you’ve found. And the need for adventure and travel grows inside of you. You’ve seen and done things you never thought possible, learned a foreign language, felt alone, struggled with the burden, and made it out alive and better than ever."

"Exchange is the best year of your life so far. Wihtout a doubt. And it's also the worst. Without a doubt. It's something no one back at home will never truly understand."

everyone to foreigh exchange students:
wow you're so brave to come to a completely new country and learn a language you barely know
every foreign exchange student:
what the fuck am i doing this is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me how in hell did i end up here what the hell are they saying why the fuck am i getting good grades i dont understand shit

In 2013, I decided to leave my quiet life to discover something new. Big change. Being an exchange student. New country, new language, new family, new experiences, new life. And now I know how life may be wonderful even if it's completely different and at the opposite of your normal life.
In 2014, I know I have to enjoy life as much as possible, because life is too short, because the best things are gone before you can even notice it. Do whatever you want, go, travel, discover, dream! It's your life, enjoy it.

You know you're an exchange student when...
you get excited by a small word that you can use often because there’s less of a chance for you to mess it up.

Kuule, räägi, oled sa kohanud palju inimesi, kelle nimi on Macarena? Mul on siin üks sõbranna, Tšiilis sündinud ja ta nimi on Constanza Macarena ja väitis, et see on väga tavaline seal. :D Tõsi?
